If you want to use an electronic speedometer - with digital or analog display - on vehicles with conventional speedometer cable, you can use a speedometer cable signal adapter. To do this, the speedometer cable is screwed to the adapter and the adapter cables are connected to those of the electronic speedometer. An electromagnetic pulse generated in the adapter then provides the control of the instrument.
The signal adapter is suitable for speedometer shafts with M12 x 1 union nuts as well as - with the included adapter - for 5/8 x 18 inch union nuts, such as those commonly used by Harley-Davidson®. The square of the speedometer cable must be 3 x 3 mm.
NOTE: The adapter has ONE screw connector for a speedometer cable, so it can NOT be installed between the speedometer cable and the mechanical speedometer to use the signal for other purposes (as you might think from picture 3 version A).
